About us

History NIETEN
Founded in 1924

History of NIETEN

In 1924 Albert Kretschmer and Carl August Nieten from Duisburg founded company NIETEN, an international timber transport company, in the Sudeten town of Tetschen (Děčín). After C. A. Nieten's tragic accident in 1927, Albert Kretschmer took over all business shares and built the largest freight forwarding company specializing in timber transport in what was then Czechoslovakia and Austria.

The family tradition was continued by the founder's daughter, Mrs. Christl Lastovka-Kretschmer, and her son Klaus Lastovka. They built a strong international group under the Nieten brand in Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia, and expanded the network of branches specializing in customs services across Europe – from the Swiss to the Ukrainian border.

Today, the next generation of the family, Klaus Lastovka's daughter, Ms. Maria Lastovka, is at the helm of Nieten Customs Services, continuing to develop modern customs services with respect for the historical legacy of the founders.
